A British businessman murdered his glamorous Russian bride after he discovered she used to be a man.
Chris Collier, 40, battered wife Julia, 35, before smothering her to death at the couple's apartment in Kusadasi, on the Aegean coast of Turkey.
He has now has been jailed for 24 years after a trial in his adopted country, where he ran an estate agent and his wife worked as a lounge singer in hotel bars.Collier, originally from Rownall, Staffordshire, was a key figure in the Phones4U empire before emigrating to Turkey in the late 1990s.
He was one of the first salesmen tycoon John Caudwell employed when he was setting up his mobile phone business, which he went sold for a staggering £1.46 billion in September 2006.
After Mrs Collier's murder, detectives probed the couple's relationship amid claims her husband 'bought' his bride on the internet, and she had undergone a sex change.
Postings in an internet forum used by expat Brits claimed to be Collier.
One said: 'I paid for my wife and then moved to Kusadasi in my rented apartment.'
It went on to add that the woman 'used to be a bloke'.

Ibori Turns Prayer Warrior In Prison
Sources from the prisons, said the former Delta State Governor is now an imprisonment in Nigeria, but not in the United Kingdom where he was slammed with 13 years imprisonment by a Southwark Crown Court in London. Now, James Ibori is alleged to be full of regrets for his past misdeeds. He has also reportedly turned a new leaf. ardent student of the Bible which he now carries always as a companion.
"Ibori has been visited by the Holy Spirit; he is no longer the same. From the way he now talks, it seems old things have passed away and all things have become new. I observed that he said a little prayer when he alighted from the prison van and when he was standing in the dock. I heard something like God is in control from him as he walked away from the court. "Ibori inferred in a censored message he sent to one of his relatives who interacted with me that he spent most of his days in detention reading the Bible and praying fervently. He said he has fasted about four days in prison. He described his prison cell as being okay but not too comfortable," our sources added.

Worshippers at the World Liberation Ministry located along old Sapele-Benin express road on Tuesday took to their heels during a prophesy programme when a female member gave birth to a horse.
The horse was however dead by the time Journalists visited the church. It was gathered that the woman whose identity is not yet known started screaming during the prayer session and began to bleed from the v*g*na before the horse came out.
The General Overseer of the church, Evangelist Silva Wealth, said he was still amazed at what came out of the woman. He told Journalists that during prayers a revelation came that there was a woman with an issue and that something was blocking her womb. Silva said as prayers intensified, the woman started screaming and bled as the object came out of her.
The cleric said he couldn't confirm whether the horse was dead or alive because he didn't go near it.
"I can't describe the object. We have seen people that vomited several things during our service but not this type of thing. God has been blessing our ministry with prophesies and miracles", he said.
As soon as news of the mysterious delivery filtered into town, people rushed to the church to catch a glimpse of the horse.

Change of name
contributed to the shutting down of Air Nigeria's
operations as announced by its management on
Tuesday.
The airline, formerly known as Virgin Nigeria, was
acquired from British millionaire Richard Branson and
other Nigerian investors, on June 2,2010 by a local
businessman Jimoh Ibrahim, for N37 billion (about $250
million). The N34 billion debt is a legacy debt inherited by
Ibrahim, when he bought Virgin Nigeria.
On Tuesday, a statement from Ibrahim aides said Air
Nigeria was suspending all its local, regional and
international operations with effect from Monday,
September 10, 2012. The airline said the suspension
was largely due to staff disloyalty and environmental
tension, "which are not conducive for business in the
aviation sector."
The statement which said only 50 out of Air Nigeria's
workforce were retained to fashion out modalities for its
resumption of operations, added that flight operations
would resume within 12 months.
After been a virgin for so long, the company is bought and changed to
Air Nigeria and two years later wahala starts. Even to the point of

world's first flying car up for sale
A Massachusetts firm Terrafugia is currently developing the Transition of the world's first flying car, Aerocar. This, it is expected, could be delivered to customers by the end of the year!
Meanwhile, the prototype 1954 Aerocar is being sold by a Rockford, Illinois, based company – Courtesy Aircraft as one of only five which are known to still exist today. It is expected to sell for about £800,000 (about $1.6 dollars). Inventor, Moulton 'Molt' Taylor, began work on the car in 1946 and it became the world's first road-legal flying car when he built the first prototype three years later. The collector's item could prove to be a popular investment, although it is in need of some maintenance as its last inspection was over 14 years ago and it has not taken to the sky in quite a while.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the flying car is not missing any major parts and is still in a good enough condition to see it take flight again. With enough room to take two people up into the clouds, the 150-horsepower vehicle has a cruising speed of 100mph and a 300-mile range.
This car-cum-plane is also expected to be shown off at the New York International Auto Show in April where it will make its first public appearance. Motorists, and indeed pilots, will be able to fly for 460 miles on one tank of petrol at a cool cruising speed of 110mph...

Teenager set himself ablaze for poverty and lack of job
The teen, Ehab Abu Nada, 18, was said to have taken this action apparently in protest against the economic hardship in his country. The was the report according to members of his family and the police. He was said to have left his home on Thursday after an argument with his father, who had urged him to find work to help feed his poor family.
Frustrated in his job hunt, Abu Nada doused himself in petrol and set himself alight inside Gaza's main Shifa hospital. His neighbours suggested he might have chosen to immolate himself at the hospital because he had wanted to make a gesture rather than kill himself, but medics there could not save him. He was pronounced dead on Sunday.
According to his father, "He left to seek work and he did not come back. My heart was shattered… We live in a miserable condition. We live in a rented house and I hardly can afford the rent.''

A Purchasing Officer with the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Mr. John Odu (pictured above), has allegedly been killed by the relatives of his wife, Nancy, after a marital squabble.
Residents of the area said the alleged killing was due to a fight between the couple, who were blessed with two children aged 21 and 19 years. The fight led to the biting off of the wife's nose.
PUNCH Metro learnt on Saturday that the couple, who resided at 23 Uduakobong Street, off Edim Otop Street, were childhood lovers during their secondary school days and eventually got married in the late 80s.
However, prior to the incident, the relationship between the spouses, who hail from Ntamante in Boki Local Government Area of the state, had plummeted due to frequent fighting and quarrelling.
It was said John bit off his wife's nose in August 17 to free himself from the intense pains he was going through when the latter grabbed his penis during a fight.
A source in the adjoining building, who craved anonymity said, "We heard the man screaming and begging for his wife to let go his genitals but she would not, so the man started crying and at a point, we heard the lady crying too. It was later that we discovered that the man bit off the wife's nose.
"After that fight, John took his wife to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital where the nostril was stitched and the woman was admitted.
"It was when he was returning from the hospital the following day that some members of the wife's family accosted him close to his house and beat him until he became unconscious and they left him lying there in a pool of blood."
John died on the way to the hospital, while his remains had been deposited at UCTH's morgue.
When contacted, the Director in charge of stores in the university, Mr. Effiong Enang, said, "When I heard that the man was dead I contacted the Bursar of the university, who is the head of our unit and he asked me to confirm if it was true. I went to the house and found out that it was true. We took the body to the anatomy section."
A source at the Airport Police Station in Calabar, where the case was first reported said the matter had been transferred to the D4 Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department.
A Deputy Superintendent of Police simply identified as Mr. Joe, in charge of the Homicide Unit said, "The family had taken some policemen to Abuja where we tried to locate the chief suspect but he escaped. He can only run for now we will certainly get him."
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. John Umoh, said the name of the chief suspect was being kept secret in order not to alert him that he was on the wanted list. He added that efforts were on to track him.

Even after these subjects stopped using marijuana for a year, its
adverse effects persisted.The United Nations says that marijuana is
the most popular illegal drug in the world,with somewhere between 119
million and 224 million users between the ages of 15 and 64 as of 2010.
Within the United States, for instance, 23 per cent of high
schoolstudents said they'd recently smoked marijuana, making it more
popular than cigarettes.The idea that marijuana harms the adolescent
brain has warranted scientists investigating its impart on memory.
Prior to now, concerns regarding cannabis use were ideological rather
than legal. Interestingly, a new study that gives credence to the long
term effect of marijuana on the brain cells found that its use in young
people affects their mental performance. It blunts
intelligence,attention and memory, aside reducing their IQ. The IQ - or
intelligence quotient - does not measure a person's amount of
knowledge,but rather represents a person's ability to comprehend
concepts, as well their capacity to process information. Typically, IQ
does not change significantly over the course of a person's life,
unless as a result of severe brain damage from injury or disease. But
intelligence and cognition are affected by a plethora of other
factors,including genetic, social and environmental influences that may
supersede any influence from drug use. In a study of more than 1,000
adolescentsin New Zealand, those who began habitually smoking
marijuana before age18 showed an eight-point drop in IQ between the
ages of 13 and 38, a considerable decline. The average IQ is100 points.
A drop of eight points represents a fall from the 50th percentile to
the 29th percentile in terms ofintelligence. In the research, published
in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, which charted
the IQ changes in participants over two decades,researchers tested the
IQs of all of the study subjects at age 13 before any habitual
marijuana use. They then split the study into five "waves" during
which time they assessed cannabis use — ages18, 21, 26, 32, and 38.
They again tested IQ at age 38. Besides factors that could affect mental
performance such as years of education, alcohol use and
other psychoactive drugs that may affect IQ were taken into
consideration.The researchers also had family members and friends of
the participants confidentially rate them on attention and memory
skills and those who had lost IQ points showed problems in these
areas. The eight-point drop in IQ was found in subjects who started
smoking in adolescence and persisted in "habitual smoking". These were
young people that use cannabis at least four days per week. However, in
people who started smoking in adolescence but used marijuana less
persistently, the researchers in the Proceedings of the National
Academy of Sciences found that the effect on their IQ's was less
pronounced than the group thatused it early and persistently. In
contrast,those who never used marijuana at all gained nearly one IQ
point on average. Experts in child development said the reasons young
people may be more susceptible to the harmful effects of marijuana may
have to do with a substance called myelin. Myelin can be thought of as
a kind of insulation for nerve cells in the brain that also helps
speed brain signals along — and in adolescent brains, the protective
coating it forms is not yet complete.But how could cannabis have this
effect on the brain and why might teenagers be particularly
susceptible? The drug is made from the cannabis plant and contains
more than 400 different chemicals, which could have a range of effects
on the mind and body. It includes psychoactive chemicals which act on
the brain. The main element is a chemical called tetrahydrocannabinol
(THC). This provides the "chilled out" sensation associated with
smoking cannabis, but has also been linked to memory
impairment. Meanwhile, although the study was conducted among New
Zealand young people, the findings could be extended to adolescents in
many parts of the world,Nigeria inclusive. Many teenagers today are
more likely to be using marijuana than tobacco products. According to
2011 World Drug Report annual prevalence of the youth and adult
population who had consumed marijuana, at least once in the past was
14.3 per cent.Unfortunately, 2011 was the first year in which
adolescents smoked more marijuana than cigarettes. Many young people
were wrongly influenced to believe that cigarettes are dangerous and
that marijuana is not. Besides, factors such as child abuse or other
trauma might lead people to seek escape in heavy marijuana use.Even
though more information is needed to establish the exact effects of
marijuana on the developing mind, experts said that it was important
for adults and teenagers alike to have a better understanding of just
what marijuana does to their minds and bodies. Though the long-term
effects of cannabis have been studied, there remains much to be
concluded. Many studies have investigated whether long-term use of
cannabis can cause or contribute to the development of illnesses such
as heart disease, bi-polar disorder,depression, mood swings or
schizophrenia.Both advocates and opponents of the drug are able to
call upon numerous scientific studies supporting their respective
positions. For instance, while cannabis has been implicated in the
development of various mental disorders in some studies,these studies
differ widely as to whether cannabis use is the cause of the mental
problems displayed in heavy users,whether the mental problems are
exacerbated by cannabis use, or whether both the cannabis use and the
mental problems are the effects of some other cause.Tests have implied
that smoking of marijuana could impact the sperm's functions, though
this impact is unknown.There is some evidence that cannabis may
compromise female fertility with a modest association reported between
cannabis use and infertility in a case controlled study of 150 women
with primary infertility.Higher rates of testicular cancer in western
nations have been linked to use of cannabis. A 2009 study published in
the journal Cancer linked the long-term use of cannabis to an
increased risk of 70 percent for testicular cancer with the scientists
concluding that cannabis is harmful to the human endocrine and
reproductive system.Some studies have found that children of tobacco
and marijuana-smoking mothers more frequently suffer from permanent
cognitive deficits, concentration disorders, hyperactivity, and
impaired social interactions than non-exposed children of the same age

Obudu to host 2014 WMRA championship
right to host the 30th edition of the World Mountain Running
Association championships in 2014.
Obudu won the bid at the weekend in Vallecamonica, Italy on the
occasion of the 28th World Mountain Running Championships garnering 21
votes while eight countries voted against and four abstained from
voting.
Obudu will thus host the 30th edition of the association's flagship
event in 2014 tocoincide with the 10th edition of the annual Obudu
international mountain race and the sixth edition of the African
Mountain Running championships.

Ritualist behead a sixteen year old groundnut seller in Anambra
Miss Nwanneka Odah a 16 year-old girl was on Wednesday beheaded by suspected ritual killers at Nawfia Njikoka local government area of Anambra State.
The 16 year-old girl was said to be selling groundnut along Nwafia in Akwa when three young men pretended to buy groundnut from her.
She was beheaded as soon as she bent down to sell to one of them. The suspected ritualist, used the machete to cut her head off.
An Okada man who was around the scene of the killing, rushing to the girl's rescue, the men ran into the nearby bush.
A relation of the deceased, Mr. Friday Ogalagu described the situation as terrible, lamenting that he had never seen such a thing in his life.
"I was not there when it happened, but I was told that my cousin was stopped by three men who said they wanted to buy groundnuts. While two of them were on the road side, the third, who dressed like a mad man was standing closely."
Ogalagu said that it was when people began to make inquiries about the parents of the girl that he was contacted.
According to Ogalagu who claimed to have been training the girl since childhood, the girl's corpse had been deposited at the Amaku General Hospital in Awka, while the parents who live in Ebonyi had been contacted.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Raphael Uzoigwe, confirmed the incident, saying the matter had been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for investigation.
